Cyberpunk 2077 is praised for many things, but the one area that players found lacking was its missing multiplayer mode. With fans wishing to tackle Night City with friends, CD Projekt RED has remained adamant that they are pleased with their decision to make the hit RPG a single-player experience.

Nevertheless, there is no denying that Night City would be an excellent playground for friends to cause a bit of chaos, and with the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel currently in development, we may even see this feedback taken onboard.

In the meantime, however, one mod has come on leaps and bounds in recent months, and as you can probably guess, it will allow you to team up with friends and finally enjoy some Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer madness.

The team behind CyberMP have recently shared the latest development on the multiplayer mod for Cyberpunk 2077. Although the mod has been around for a while, or at least in progress, it has not yet been finished. However, that means that fans are helping every step of the way, including with its latest second semi-open test.

As you can probably guess, the CyberMP mod allows you to hit the streets of Night City with friends, and even create your own server which you can customize with new and exciting features. We can imagine that friendly fire will be one example. Although the mod is still in its early stages of development, it is coming along well, and is definitely the most expansive multiplayer experience we have for Cyberpunk 2077 so far.

In a recent development, around 66 players played comfortably on the server before another influx of players saw things become unstable. This is incredible progress, allowing the team to identify the issue and vow to solve it for the next open test. At its current state, it can comfortably handle 30-40 players.

At the time of writing, CyberMP is still in development, and whilst more tests may be held in the future, there is no news of when we can expect it to be finished and for us, and many friends and strangers, to be able to hit the neon-soaked metropolis and show Arasaka a real incident.

So, if you have been hoping for a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077, make sure to keep up with the progress of CyberMP as there is no denying that this mod will be the one-stop-shop for all things co-op related in the future.
